Sunday afternoon Tom and I wanted to get out and enjoy a bit of the nice weather so we drove out to the Hans Herr House. The Hans Herr House was built in 1719 by the Mennonites that originally settled in this area of Pennsylvania. Now it's been turned into a museum but to be honest, we've been out there a few times and the museum portion never seems to be open. Nevertheless, it's always nice to go walk around the grounds. There's a lovely orchard of crab apple trees, an Amish farm next door that usually has its work horses in the stables close by and a 1700s smokehouse that still smells like smoked meat (not sure if that's a good thing or not). Of course I couldn't resist feeding the rabbits and chickens some clover through the fence.
