2009

2008 really has been a crazy year for ALL bloggers. People outside of our little world are starting to realize our impact on fashion. That said, 2009 will be even better.

Thanks for everything. Have a great, safe New Year's Eve.

The Wishlist

It's that time of year again: finals are done and I get to look forward to my birthday, Christmas, and New Years. I understand that most of this is actually beyond realism, but a girl can dream, right?

I really can't help but to cloud my mind with possible layouts, furniture, and knickknacks my soon-to-be apartment will have. All I know is I want an awesome structured leather couch (vintage or this one from Ikea) and a quirky chandelier. The rest will come to me. Oh, and how 'bout those Lanvin dolls featuring the Spring collection? T.D.F.

Growing up, I used to love watching the Pictionary show at my babysitters house, now I want to get back into that excitement with family nights around this creepy little guy, though I imagine it'll be hard trying to quick sketchy around the curves. If anyone has an iPhone, this Incase makes for an awesome cover. It makes your iPhone battery lost longer – somehow. The Canon is really self explanatory (hint: JAMES), and that Steven Meisel editorial is one of my favorite, and now it's in a puzzle form. How awesome.

I normally am happy with the whiteness of my teeth, but lately, I've been drinking too much coffee and tea that it's making my teeth look a little dull. I've read the reviews on this, and they say it works quite well (it's a one week supply I think – use two a day), but it's not really worth the price. I've been partial to different colored lips as opposed to my boring, daily nudes. I recently purchased a bright fuchsia, and I love it! Next, I want to venture to deep, burgundy red. Though that is a bold step I am willing to take, I don't think I can pull of the YSL black lipgloss, no matter how fun it sounds to try it on.

Jil Sander
Need I explain myself with the shoes? These aren't even the top of my charts. So many  shoes out there, not even money to get to all of them. Le sigh.

Long, strappy bags are seriously grabbing my attention, as well as hanging feather earrings; I just need to re-pierce my left ear and I will be sporting these in no time! I also love my Persols, but I really want a larger tortoise pair. Oh, and those gorgeous flower rings are at Pier 1 for only 4 bucks! Stocking stuffer, much?

The Busy Twins

Backed up on work! Thanks for being patient.

For a quick post, I'd like to introduce my darling, online BFF. Jane was a very persistent reader who was madly in love with Ted and I. She bombarded my inbox, stalked me on Myspace, then somehow got my cellphone number. Kidding, I sold her my friendship.

Anyways, Jane and I quickly became friends although we've never met (isn't that the case for everyone in this blogging bubble?). She comes to me with "should I buy this?" and I go to her with "should I sell this?." Anyway, we're like yin and yang, or Libra and Sagittarius as she so calls it.

I'm on top; she's on bottom. I had no idea we had similar vests or that we use the same poses in photobooth. This came as a surprise to me.

So, while I'm tackling my accounting and calculus exam until next Tuesday, you can read her newly formed blog that she updates three times a day because she is so damn excited about it.

If you think she looks familiar, she's featured on Cobrasnake a lot. Figured you guys would get a little kick out of that.

Her blog:

News flash: Jane picked her vest up at a thrift store, as did I. So we get a' talking about the similarities and turns out it's by the same label. Trippy stuff, this girl.

The Hautelook

I'm seriously not big on being an online advocate for clothing stores, labels, things, and whatnot, but when a reader referred me to Hautelook, I decided I can't keep it a secret any longer. For the most part, the labels they sell are mediocre, but every once in a while, you'll get a diamond in the rough. Right now they're selling Elizabeth and James (!), and I've seen them sell Mike and Chris, clothing from Decades Two (lots of Prada), and my personal favorite, Ilaria Nistri... all for 60% off!

I swear I'm not getting paid or being asked to post this, so if you're interested in an invitation to this private selection, just leave a comment with your email (format it so it reads: raychizzle at gmail com, so robots can't pick up on your email) OR use the form to send me an email and put in hautelook for the subject, and I will send you an invite. Oh, and there's a lot of men's clothing ;)

The Pink Thinkers

I realize that today is the last day of October, HAPPY HALLOWEEN! And I started this post earlier, but life has been so busy lately. As you may know, October is not only iconic for Halloween, but it's Breast Cancer Awareness month. I'm not directly related to anyone affected by breast cancer, however, my heart goes out to every single women out there who struggled or knows someone who struggled with breast cancer. So today being the last day to invest in these once-a-year goodies, I suggest you do it now, and do it quick.

With rosy makeup palettes in time for Fall, it's a great convenience that there's a ton of pink makeup out for the awareness. I'll have you know that I'm a huge Smashbox fan! Absolutely love their blush, I'm currently wearing Matrix and I totally recommend it, I believe it has the capability to look great on any skin tone because it's so sheer.
Lipgloss, Blush

I guess this is a good reason to go out a splurge for your first piece of jewelry by Marc by Marc Jacobs. Not only am I in love with that Marc bracelet, but you're helping out a cause by investing. You don't have that much time to hint, so come up with an alibi, like, now. Don't even get me started on the Vita bracelet, loves those. I have two that I wear religiously.

There don't really categorize as much, but I love these miscellaneous objects. First off, you've always wanted to invest in a cute umbrella to prance around in, but you were either too lazy or just haven't found that ground breaking umbrella. I'm not a huge fan of camo, but I have to admit, this is a pretty cute umbrella, not that I'd need it here in California. And what better way to promote breast cancer awareness, than to offer mint in a cute pink tin?
Umbrella, Mints

Wear your pink. That's possibly the best way to grab people's attention, and I for on, am loving the Ralph Lauren polos. I normally never wear polos, like, ever. But after watching the behind-the-scenes video with Sasha and Lily, I am convinced that the polo can be brought back. Not to mention, it doesn't look like Net-a-Porter raised that much off the shirts. We can help with that!
Juicy Couture, Ralph Lauren

Will all that worrying, donating, and helping out a good cause, it's time relax through a nice warm bath and aromatherapy. Saving the world is one thing. Helping to find a cure for breast cancer is another.
Antica Farmacista, Philosophy

Happy Halloween and Breast Cancer Awareness everyone! Stay safe and don't do anything I would do -- like passing out on your front door completely intoxicated. I know I won't! And before you go out partying, don't forget to do one small favor towards the Breast Cancer Awareness. It's never too late and small things can lead to greater meanings.

The Camping eBay-ers

(Click the picture for its individual listing)

A big special thanks to Ted for taking the pictures and helping put up each listing! Each listing is fairly cheap, and I'll let the bidders determine how much it's actually worth. I know I specified that I won't be shipping out of the US, but if you're a reader, and you email me where you live, I'll definitely ship it over.

Ted and I are still recovering from a rough, crazy weekend. Pictures up later this week! Meanwhile, check out the new listings.

P.S. Ted is really enjoying this so expect a monthly eBay update!
