Waiting for Sunset

It's been a long, hot day and I was crazy enough to wear a more fall inspired look. Don't know what I was thinking since it was so bloody hot, but I couldn't be happy with anything else. It never ceases to happen around this time of year. All I think about is the coming fall and all the wonderful layers I can wear. Does anyone else have this little issue?

Boardwalk Burn

Now that it's golfing season again, we can't take as many photos on this boardwalk, which is a cart path that links two holes. But luckily the club is closed on Mondays, so that's when we'll hopefully have our chance. Although yesterday, two guys still drove by us in their little cart with mighty weird looks on their faces.

A color combination that I love to wear, is black and khaki. I'm not sure why, but I just feel so chic and sporty when I pair the two colors together. My Jeffrey Campbell clogs were screaming for another outing, so I felt my vintage khakis and old black shirt were the way to go. These khakis are a cross between parachute and MC Hammer pants and I love them. Best $2.50 I ever spent.

Holiday Look No.3: The Gentlewoman

Most of the time, when I've finished assembling my outfit for a shoot I'll ask Cole "What do you think?" His response this time around, without any hesitation, was "You look like Mary Poppins" and my heartfelt reply was simply "Thank you!" It's so nice when someone truly gets you and there is no need for an explanation. As you can tell from the first few photos, this was a blustery shoot! Snow was pelting my face and my arms went numb pretty fast! Thankfully, the wind relaxed a bit and we were able to carry on. I like to think that my suffering enabled some nice photos. ;)

L.L. Bean Men's Sweaters

Just last week, an L.L. Bean men’s fall catalog arrived on my doorstep. As I flipped through the pages I found myself looking at the most perfect classic pieces to wear for cool crisp nightly walks, carving pumpkins and sipping hot apple cider by the fire. In particular, nothing brings to mind cozy fall feelings more than a classic thick-knit sweater from L.L. Bean. Fear not ladies, we can wear these, too...simply order a size small and it will have that perfectly slouchy, borrowed-from-your-boyfriend look!

Irish fisherman's sweater; Bean's Norwegian sweater; Houndstooth cardigan; Cable knit sweater; Roll-neck rag wool sweater; Commando sweater.

...Well, I'm half way done with my replies. Boy, I'm slow but I'll get there eventually. After last week's rss feed hiccup I think I finally found the solution! The Undone Dandy

If I still worked in a conservative office, this would be my daily uniform. When I worked for a finance company in MA I wore very classic, conservative, preppy looks everyday- think head to toe Brooks Brothers. Since none of the other girls dressed like that, people in the office used to stare at me as if I had grown gills. It was quite funny but also a bit annoying. I mostly just shrugged it off and kept wearing what I loved. This was also back when I invested in my wonderful boy's duffle coat and tartan kilt, which you can see here in a post from last October!

Around the same time, I also bought this camel hair coat. Since I couldn't find an affordable version that I liked, I searched ebay and found this never worn vintage camel hair coat for $50! It was a bit big and needed to be taken up in the sleeves and hem, but still worth the cost. I don't wear it very often, but it's fun to pull it out of my closet for those rare occasions when I want to wear a long, duster coat and feel oh so classic! Here's another old post where I'm sporting the coat.
