A Harvest Picnic by Dear Creatures

I'm so very excited to show you my new Dear Creatures Blossom dress! Isn't it so pretty with the scallop details down the placket and the faint gray striped fabric. I've had my eye on it ever since this fall inspiration post.

Aside from showcasing my new dress, I also need your help. The Delightful Dozen is putting together a fun project which we're all submitting photos for and I need to pick one of the horizontal photos from this post, but I can't decide which one. So if you would be ever so kind as to tell me which horizontal photo (the first, fourth or fifth) is your favorite, I would be so very grateful! I'm leaning towards the first since it shows the dress the best, Cole likes the fifth, but I would really love to know what you think.

Dear Creatures Autumn 2011

Bianca and Rob kill me every season. I always have an endless list of must-own items from each Dear Creatures collection and this autumn is pure torture with their amazing pussy bow blouses, tweed blazers and regimental coats. It's times like these that I feel the bitter sting of an empty wallet...le sigh.

Fall Inspiration: Dear Creatures and Diane Keaton

I'm really in love with Dear Creatures' fall collection. It's preppy, slightly boyish, nautical and vintage inspired, which are essentially all the things that inspire me most when dressing.

...Another source of fall inspiration comes from two of my favorite Diane Keaton movies- Baby Boom ('87) and Manhattan Murder Mystery ('93). Obviously Annie Hall is also one of my all time favorites, but I've already used that as my muse. So, if you haven't seen either movie (or Annie Hall for that matter), I highly recommend that you do. Not only are they fun, but Diane Keaton's characters always have this sort of classic menswear inspired way of dressing that I love. Both wardrobes are just the sort of clothes I'm drawn to for this fall.

Nicollet Island

On Sunday, Cole and I took a cruise down the Mississippi River. I can't say that the cruise was all that cool, well maybe the St. Anthony Falls lock was pretty cool, but otherwise it was a bit boring. After the cruise, we drove over to Nicollet Island and took some photos. Let me tell you, Nicollet Island is one of my new favorite spots in Minneapolis. Walking down the few little streets makes you feel like you've stepped back in time. I was completely smitten and didn't want to leave, but Cole had a plane to Seattle to catch, so we picked the prettiest spot and snapped away. Cole gets home on Friday and I've missed him terribly, but I've been hanging out with Annie and Erin which helps keep the loneliness away. On Monday we met up with Emma for drinks at Sweeney's which has an awesome back patio and yesterday we took some photos of each other at a pretty spot off the Mississippi River Blvd. I should hopefully be posting those photos tomorrow or Friday...fingers crossed.

Camp Dear Creatures

For two years, I have longed to buy this Dear Creatures' dress. Ever since I saw the Zooey cotton commercial, I knew it had to be mine. Finally, two months ago I lucked out and found one on sale at 80s Purple in my size. I've been holding back and waiting for warmer weather, knowing already how I wanted to style it. While it's still so cold outside, at least all the snow is gone. Fingers crossed, for good.

In the last few weeks, I've been quite happily spending my Christmas money!

I bought all the Dear Creatures pieces on sale- the bottom three are from Swirl.com and the camp dress is from 80's Purple. The cape coat is from Topshop, the oxfords are from F21 and the blouse is from ModCloth....Now, if only they would get here super duper fast!
